When a young man, Howard left the home of his parents in Garner, Iowa and located in Everett, Washington where he lived out the rest of his life. He worked for the Scott Paper Company until his retirement in 1965.

Howard married Hattie Ruth EGBERT, daughter of Chester G EGBERT and Wealthy V SUTTON, on 5 DEC 1925 in Seattle, Washington. Hattie was born on 27 SEP 1905 in Twisp, Washington. She died in NOV 1983 in Everett, Washington.
