Jacob STRIEBY (Hans Michael) was born 12 JUN 1754 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died on 28 SEP 1807 in Northampton Co, Pennsylvania and was buried in Plainfield Twp, Northampton Co, Pennsylvania.

Jacob Strieby, eldest son of Hans Michael and Barbara Strieby, married Anna Strickerin (Strickler). They apparently lived near Strieby Town when their daughter, Elizabeth was born. They later located in the Philadelphia area where they remained until the death of his father, Michael, in May 1790.

Jacob's Revolutionary War record was in Pennsylvania. According to the Military (Militia) accounts, Records of the Comptrollers General, at the Division of Archives & Manuscripts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he was enrolled as a Sargeant, Captain Henry Ritz's Sixth Company, Second Battalion, Northampton County Militia, according to the evidence of a General Muster Roll dated May 14, 1778. His residence was ascribed to Whitehall Township.

On Sept. 22, 1790 Jacob, "eldest son and heir at law of Michael Strieby, late of Lynn Township" petitioned the Orphan's Court for partition of his father's real estate setting forth that his father had died the previous May, "leaving eleven children but no widow" (Orphan's Ct. Bk. E, p. 226). Jacob as eldest son and heir at law was to receive two shares. On June 21, 1791 he petitioned the Orphan's Court to permit John to appear and make a choice of guardian (Book E. p. 263-4). The court appointed "twelve honest and lawful men" who found that the 224 acre farm left by Michael Strieby could not be divided equitably among the children and set the valuation at 490 pounds, lawful money of Pennsylvania. Jacob acquired the land by buying the shares of the other children.

Jacob died intestate, Sept. 28, 1807 (Records of the First Reformed Church of Easton, p. 300). His widow, Christina, married Peter Bender shortly after Jacob's death. Papers in the settlement of Jacob Strieby's estate are in the Archives file 2493 which contains the following items of interest: administrators bond filed Nov. 12, 1807 by Anna Christina Strieby, "widow and relict of Jacob Strieby, Lower Mt. Bethel"; cobondsmen were Christian Leighigh and George Labar; inventory was filed the same day. Settlement was Feb. 16, 1809 by Peter Bender in right of his wife, Christine, late Strieby, Plainfield Twp.

The second marriage turned out to be most unhappy and the couple agreed to separate according to provisions recorded in Deed Book G-3, p. 49, dated May 11, 1811 which is titled Articles of Separation between Peter Bender of Plainfield Twp and Christina his wife, with Jacob Strieby, yeoman.

Jacob married Christianna STRICKERIN on 2 SEP 1777.
