George STREBY (Thomas STREBY, Isaac STREBY, Leonard, Hans Michael) was born on 7 JAN 1855 in Forks Twp, Sullivan Co, Pennsylvania. He died on 19 NOV 1921 in Dushore Twp, Sullivan Co, Pennsylvania and was buried in Reformed Cemetery, Overton.

George Streby married Mary Jane Woodley, daughter of Abraham Kinney and Catherine (sherman) Woodley. He attended Mansfield Normal School and taught school for many years. In 1881 he settled on a farm in Elkland Twp, Sullivan County and in 1887 moved to Dushore. It was in Dushore where George established the Sullivan Gazette. Later he purchased the Sullivan Herald, combining the two papers which he owned and conducted until his death in 1921. He was a school director of Dushore borough and for many years an elder and Sabbath School superintendent of the German Reformed Church. He authored several books including the "History of Sullivan County, Pennsylvania." George Streby died at the Robert Packer Hospital at Sayre.

George married Mary WOODLEY, daughter of Abraham Kinney WOODLEY and Catherine SHERMAN, on 22 FEB 1881. Mary was born on 8 SEP 1862 in Hughesville, Pennsylvania. She died on 13 MAR 1936 in Binghamton, New York and was buried in Overton Reformed Cemetery.
