Elizabeth STRIEBY (William, John, Hans Michael) was born on 28 FEB 1842 in Kosciusko Co, Indiana. She died on 29 MAR 1915 and was buried in Noble Co, Indiana.

Jacob Himes was in California during the "Gold Rush" days and, so impressed with the grandeur of the mountains, he named his first born child Sierra Nevada. On his trip west he rode a pony but returned by boat via South America. Jacob was the son of Peter Himes, buried in Salem Cemetery, Noble Co, Indiana, who died August 7, 1858, age 62 years, 2 months, and 12 days. According to the history of Lawrence Township, Tuscarawas Co, Ohio (Beers, p. 566) Peter and John Streaby came from Pennsylvania in 1812. In the Syracuse Journal for March 25, 1915, it was reported that Mrs. Jacob Himes suffered a light stroke of paralysis while visiting at the Frank Strieby home the previous Sunday, March 20. In the following issue her death was announced together with the names of children, brothers and sisters. Following her father's death in 1900, she purchased a portion of his land through his executor, Joseph Mock.

Elizabeth married Jacob HIMES, son of Peter HIMES, on 16 AUG 1860 in Kosciusko Co, Indiana. Jacob was born on 19 JUL 1835 in Tuscarawas Co, Ohio. He died in 1904 in Noble Co, Indiana.
